Christian education is a central tenet of our community; we continually strive to better understand the world around (and in) us and the way our faith informs our interactions with that world. Northside, in cooperation with St. Aidan’s, offers weekly Christian Education opportunities and additional special programs throughout the year designed for adults. The schedule and content of the adult programs vary throughout the year, and participants have multiple opportunities for Bible study, discussion of current events, interaction with community leaders, and education in the tenets of the Christian faith and specific church doctrines. Groups range from 10 to about 25, allowing opportunities for sharing thoughts and ideas and encouraging participants to get to know each other in ways not possible through other venues. We are proud to offer a comprehensive Christian education program for children and youth in collaboration with our sister congregation St. Aidan's. Classes meet each Sunday morning before worship during the school year (9:45-10:45), and are organized by grade and age level based on the needs of the children who participate. We also host a specially-designed Children's Learning Center during 11 am Worship. While we are delighted to have children worship with their families at that hour, we often provide Children's Messages at the beginning of Worship to allow children to participate in the Godly Play program in the Learning Center, inviting them to rejoin their families for Communion when it is celebrated. Each summer (usually in August) we offer one week of Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through 12, and is open to all members of the public without charge. Each day includes worship, singing, games, arts and crafts, and time to work on a community project. We also are proud to offer a one-day Winter Vacation Bible School during the school Christmas break.
| Prayer GroupWednesday Mornings 8:00am Amer's Delicatessen, 611 Church St., Ann Arbor Several members meet for breakfast to discuss and record prayer concerns. Child Care
Children of all ages are welcome at all Northside and St. Aidan's worship services. Parents determine whether their children should attend the services or stay in the nursery.
Child care is offered for children 6 and under during worship services and at most major church events. In collaboration with St. Aidan’s, Northsiders share responsibilities for caring for our children, and each member volunteers 1-2 Sundays per year in our nursery. A paid and well-trained staff member, Winn Rodriguez, supervises the nursery at all times. Book Group Many Northsiders are avid readers, and our joint Book Group with St. Aidan's meets monthly to discuss a variety of works including classic literature, science and popular fiction, non-fiction works, and materials focused on spirituality. Certainly, the group serves to expand our members’ exposure to the written word. But, and perhaps more importantly, it offers an opportunity for participants to relax, talk about what’s going on in our lives, and get to know each other in an intimate setting. Fellowship Coffee Hour Light refreshments are served after 11 am Worship every Sunday.
