About Northside Presbyterian Church (NPC)

Northside Presbyterian Church is a small dynamic congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA located in Ann Arbor. Established in 1959 by First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor as an outreach to the University of Michigan's North Campus, we have grown to attract a diverse membership base from all over Southeastern Michigan. We are one of nearly 100 churches comprising the Presbytery of Detroit.

Northside Presbyterian Church is a faith community focused on glorifying God by being:

  • Welcoming in worship
  • Inclusive by intention
  • Joyful in doing justice
  • Liberal in love

We believe that both solemn prayer and nonviolent action can bring about change in the world, and that the presence of our congregation can make a difference in our community.

Northside Presbyterian Church is also a More Light congregation. We seek to affirm Christ's inclusive love for all, and celebrate the Spirit's marvelous gift of diversity. We invite everyone -- regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or other worldly condition -- to fully join us in worship, leadership, and community. Please join us for worship if you are able!

Since 1966, we have been sharing all facilities and some programs with St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, including a common emphasis on community work and social justice activities. This partnership, the second oldest such relationship in the U.S., was formalized in 1972 as Northside Associated Ministries (NAM), a non-profit corporate entity.

Though each congregation has its own sanctuary, we worship together as a unified congregation on the last Sunday of every month, using a liturgy in the spirit of Churches Uniting in Christ (CUIC), a nine denominational body in which the Presbyterian Church USA and Episcopal Church USA are participants.

We hope you will take the opportunity to visit our church in person in the near future!
